As part of the Lounja Tounkaranke Project, (“Lounja” means “committee” in Arabic; “Tounkaranke” means migrant or adventurer in the Soninke language), a regional campaign advocating for free circulation within ECOWAS took place simultaneously in Niger, Senegal, Mali, and the Ivory Coast on Saturday January 25, 2014. Loujna Tounakaranke brings together organizations from French, North African, and West African civil society for the protection of migrant rights. An international week of action and mobilization will take place in May and June at the Malian Association for Deportees.
